Camp statements for parents of Great Escape campers will be mailed next Sunday, June 3rd.  These statements will show your child’s final camp balance, which is due Sunday, June 10th.  Please contact Michael or Laurie if questions.

We Love Our Graduates!

God has worked in and through our Senior class.  Join us this month for the following events:

1) Our Graduation Sunday is May 20^th, during first service.  We recognize our Class of 2012 to the congregation, have our leaders pray over them, and present a brief slideshow of the class.  Parents, please remember us to send us 2 pictures of your child: One as an infant/child, the other as their ‘senior picture’.

2) The SVHS Community Baccalaureate Service is designed to recognize & celebrate the spiritual dimension of commencement. Held on Saturday, May 19th, at 4p in the SVHS gymnasium.  This service is open to the community.

8th Grade Study: This Summer.

As our Spring Semester comes to an end, we want to focus on what’s next for our 8th graders: High School.  Starting next Sunday, May 13th, we’re inviting our incoming Freshmen to join us for 5 Sundays we read the book How to Stay Christian in High School.  All 8th Graders invited--Confirmands, Group students, etc.  Confirmation students have already received the book as a gift; books are $5 otherwise.  

We’ll meet each Sunday at 10a, and we’ll end on Sunday, June 10th.  Join us! 

Pick Up Your Flowers & Gift Cards Today!  

If you have purchased flowers or gift cards through the Flower Sale fundraiser, today’s the day to pick them up!  Our pickup booth is located in the parking lot--you can’t miss it--and it will be open from 10:45a-12:15p.  Thanks again for supporting your High School youth group! 

Note: The high school students will be setting up the pickup area, so there will be no High School Sunday School today.

Reception @ 9:30, Fellowship Hall: For students, families, and the congregation!  Greet our class, encourage them, and bless them.  Cake and refreshments provided.

Confirmation & Baptism @ 2nd service: Led by Pastor Rus.  The altar will be available afterwards for pictures.  Students will receive their Bibles, Confirmation

& Membership Certificates, and a gift at this time as well.

8th Grade Study: This Summer.

Jr. High Confirmation Schedule

This Sunday: 

Course Review, 10:00-11:00.  Students will review the course material in

  preparation for the interviews to follow. 

Elder-Student Interviews, 11:15-12:00.  Students will meet with their   assigned Elder in the sanctuary to present their faith statements and answer the   interview questions. 

  Session Meeting, 12:00-12:20.  Each Elder will summarize the meeting they   had with their students. Afterwards, the Session will vote to add the confirmands   to membership at Kishwaukee Church.  

Confirmation Sunday Practice, 12:20-12:30.  Students will be instructed   briefly on the placement and process of each event: Confirmation, Baptism, Reception,   etc.

April 29th: Confirmation Sunday. With all expectations met and assignments completed, students will become confirmed.

4/25: Group @ Church, 5:30-7:30p.  It’s our last night of Group for the season, and we’re swinging the doors wide open!  Check it out:

-Our 5th graders (soon-to-be 6th graders) are invited.  Get a sneak peek of Group before you join us this Fall!

-Our 8th graders are running Group tonight.  Their message: How to get the most out of Group in Jr. High.

-Everyone who comes to Group: We’re asking YOU to bring people who have never come to Group.  Have them come & see what it’s all about! 

4/28: Volunteering at the Food Bank! 

Want to make a real-time difference for needy families in Northern Illinois?  Then join us as we serve at Northern Illinois Food Bank! Meet us at Church by 8a; we’ll leave by 8:15a sharp.  From 9-11 we'll be labeling and boxing canned goods at Northern Illinois Food Bank.  We’ll be back by 12:45.

Please bring:

Old clothes to wear.  

Closed-toe shoes.

Lunch money; we’ll grab a meal at Beef-A-Roo afterwards.

We’ll be roaming the Byron Forest Preserve like the Buffalo once did...if the Buffalo had cellphones!  Join us from 5:30-7:30 at the shelter next to the Jarrett Center as we compete against our mortal enemies (read: brothers & sisters in Christ) in a picture message scavenger hunt.   You should bring your phone and your friends.  No phone? No problem!  No friends?  That’s a problem...but we got ya covered :) Sign up in the narthex or on the tearoff sheet today!

If you’re not headed to warmer climes for Spring Break, then join us for a night out!  We’re partnering with the Red Brick & Valley Covenant youth groups for pizza and an IceHogs game on Friday, March 23rd, from 5-10p.  Cost is $15, and dinner is included.  Signup ends today, so make it happen!

Parents, Due to our final Service in Action Sunday, there will be no class next Sunday, March 11th.  We have such a large class this year, and we were not able to get everyone serving last month. Class will resume the following Sunday, March 18th.  Thanks! 

Camp Scholarships 

With our summer camp ministries just 4 months away, I'd like to remind you about our dollar-for-dollar scholarship initiative.  The scholarship matches what your child has raised in fundraising money up to $150.  So if your child has fundraised $150 thus far, we'll match it with $150.  With both Youthworks and Great Escape totaling over $400, a $300 applied credit brings the cost down significantly.  Please email Michael to request a form.

Confirmation News 

Parents, over the last couple weeks students have been completing their Sermon Notes assignment as they attend worship each week.  This Sunday will mark the third and final date for them to complete their last Sermon Notes assignment.  We will resume our regular class schedule on Sunday, March 4th.
